Recycling Day: our commitments

Recycling, a major issue for our planet

Recycling is a very important lever in environmental preservation. It is not always necessary to use new raw materials when there is already a huge amount of existing and recyclable material . In terms of pollution, plastic is particularly problematic because it degrades slowly and makes up a large part of marine waste.

A recycled fiber for more responsible cushions

At Petits Cadors we have chosen to commit to cleaning up the oceans . To do this we have chosen to fill our cushions with a fiber made from recycled plastic . This plastic was collected from waterways in different places around the world and then processed in order to be recycled . The idea in this process is to intercept the problem at the source by recovering the plastic before it reaches the oceans and disrupts the fauna and flora (80% of the plastic present in the oceans arrived there via rivers). To explain this mechanism, we really like the analogy used by David Katz:

“Imagine walking into your kitchen and it's flooded because the faucet was left wide open. Your first instinct will probably be to turn off the faucet, not to go get your mop and mop it up... endlessly.”

A strong commitment despite a higher cost

This production choice is a real bias since our filling costs 3 times more than a filling made from new plastic! Why? Because its collection, sorting and transformation process requires more steps and therefore more costs . We are nevertheless convinced that protecting the environment is a priority and that it is priceless.

Zero waste in our workshop!

At Petits Cadors, we refuse to throw away fabric. That's why we upcycle our fabric scraps by creating original and useful accessories . Scrunchies, keychains, and pouches—we've got something to please you while staying true to our values.

Collaborations in line with our values

Since the beginning of the Petits Cadors adventure, we have met people who have led us to wonderful collaborations, always in line with our values: eco-responsibility and made in France.

OBABA

For the third time, we're partnering with OBABA , the French brand of XXL beach towels that won't fly away. Every year, they entrust us with their fabric scraps to give them a new life... The result? A limited collection of ultra-colorful Salvador cushions for the summer!

Surprise…

And another beautiful collaboration is coming soon... An iconic brand of made in France , expert in responsible denim, has entrusted us with a unique material so that we can, in turn, transform it. We won't tell you more for the moment, but stay tuned, it promises to be beautiful, blue and committed! 💙
